Postgraduate diploma are qualifications at the same level of study as Masters degrees but they are shorter (made up to 120 credits), and without a dissertation. 

Whereas a masters degree is made up of 180 credits, a postgraduate diploma is made of 120 credits at same level. These are delivered and assessed through a series of taught modules.

Postgraduate Diplomas are provided in variety of subject areas such as Arts, Science, Law, Business Administration, Architecture, Education, Music, Health and Social Care, Information Technology etc. These courses are popular with students carrying straight on from their undergraduate degree and professionals looking to improve their CV or change careers.

  • The Minimum entry requirement for postgraduate diplomas usually include a Bachelors degree (or its equivalent i.e. Graduate Diploma or Level 6 course) in an appropriate field.
  • Postgraduate Diploma provides a faster route for students to achieve a Masters degree by studying Masters Top-up degree.
  • There are a number of career routes students can take after Masters level course such as getting a graduate job or becoming self-employed.
