Postgraduate teacher training and education courses prepare graduates for a career in teaching.

Postgraduate teaching courses are required in England to teach in a state primary or secondary school, or in further education.

Working in education can be incredibly rewarding with many teacher training routes. There are a number of postgraduate teacher training and education programmes available across the UK universities and colleges such as PGCE, School Direct, and SCITT.

  • The minimum entry requirement usually include a Bachelors degree (or its equivalent i.e. Graduate Diploma or Level 6 course) in an appropriate field.
  • Non-academic requirements usually include: some recent experience of working with students; medical fitness and DBS.
  • Teacher Training and Education courses provide great academic progression where graduates can pursue another Masters or Doctorate level study.
  • There are a number of career routes students can take after Teacher Training and Education course such as getting a graduate job or becoming self-employed.
